Training & capacity building

  • Capacity building and Community Sensitization;

    We carry out research and community engagement to enhance the public's role in enforcing and managing natural resources. Our initiatives emphasize public participation and awareness of environmental rights and obligations, focusing particularly on the pressing issue of climate change.

    Our community sensitization and outreach programs include:

    • Dialogues with local communities
    • Workshop trainings
    • Seminars

    These programs aim to equip participants with knowledge about their environmental rights, responsibilities, and practical strategies for sustainable resource management. Through this strategy, we have facilitated the development of bylaws and ordinances on environmental protection in districts such as Hoima, Tororo, and Masindi.

  • Training Programs

    Greenwatch collaborates with government institutions, local authorities, schools, and civil society organizations to build capacity across various sectors. We have trained:

    • Judicial officers and lawyers
    • Policymakers and administrators
    • Environmental officers and state prosecutors
    • Police officers and journalists
    • Community members and local leaders

    Our training workshops empower stakeholders to actively participate in environmental governance, enforce environmental laws, and advocate for climate justice. Notable training programs include:

    • Judicial and journalists’ trainings on climate justice

    • Community and local government dialogues on the impacts of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) on the environment

    By fostering knowledge-sharing and capacity-building, we aim to strengthen institutional frameworks and public accountability, ensuring a more resilient and sustainable future for Uganda.
